 About the Artist

Kim Schuster is an artist in Homer, Alaska located on the shores of beautiful Kachemak Bay. Her work as a marine scientist and guide in the Antarctic have given her a rich array of experiences to draw inspiration from. Kim hopes to use her art forms to communicate science to the public.

Woodworking has been Kim's passion since discovering the art in middle school, and she learned to paint with watercolors as a way to create art while working in remote locations. She hopes to highlight the beauty of species that are important to our way of life in Alaska as well as to share her love of the lesser known animals found in our world's oceans.

“Some of us are lucky enough to know that our lives have been changed, it happened to me that summers day when my eyes opened to the world beneath the surface of the sea.”
